Wilmington, North Carolina (Jun 12, 2021) – Two residents of Hampstead were injured in a car crash in Wilmington on Wednesday, June 9. The accident happened just after 8:00 p.m. on Market Street at the intersection with Station Road.
According to Officer MD Poff of the Wilmington Police Department, Charles Dale was a 2010 Ford on Station Road when he came to a stop sign at the intersection with Market Street. Dale attempted to turn left onto Market Street but did not see an oncoming vehicle driven by Joseph Smith. The two cars collided on the roadway, causing extensive damage to both vehicles. Smith and his passenger Tammy Smith were both injured in the crash, along with another passenger in their vehicle. Rescue teams arrived and assessed the injured victims before taking them to the New Hanover Regional Medical Center. There is no current update on their terms at this time.
Following an investigation, Constable Poff issued a citation to Dale for making an unsafe move and for driving with an expired license card or tag. No additional injuries were reported and no further information is available.
