Driver arrested after impaired driving accident on Route 108; 19-year-old boy dies
TUOLUMNE CO., CA (September 27, 2021) – A 19-year-old passenger was killed after a tragic drunk driving accident on Highway 108 last Tuesday.
On Tuesday, September 21, the California Highway Patrol responded to reports of an accident near Route 108.
According to CHP, a 17-year-old Soulsbyville teenager was driving a 2001 Toyota Tacoma with a 19-year-old Sonoran passenger when he lost control of the truck on a bend near the village of Mi-Wuk.
The truck then collided with an embankment, knocking over and ejecting the passenger.
Emergency response teams declared the passenger dead at the scene.
Meanwhile, medics flew the driver to the medics’ medical center for treatment after sustaining minor injuries.
Officers then booked the driver to the Motherlode Regional Juvenile Detention Center for drunk driving after being released from the hospital.
For now, authorities have not disclosed the identity of all parties involved. Once available, more information will be published.
