Governor Jay Inslee today announced the appointment of Miguel Duran to the Superior Court of Snohomish County. He will occupy a newly created judicial seat in the county.

Duran is a civil litigator at Wilson Smith Cochran Dickerson, where since 2019 he has focused on personal injury, premises liability and other complex torts. Prior to joining Wilson Smith Cochran Dickerson, Duran worked as a general counsel at Allstate. He also worked at SEIU Local 925 assisting their members with employment-related disputes. Prior to these positions, from 2008 to 2013, Duran worked as a public defender, first for the Defendants’ Lawyers Association in Everett, then for the Northwest Defenders Association in Seattle.

Duran is active in the community. For the past few years, he has volunteered to judge mock trial programs for youth and with Food Lifeline. He was also a local president and shop steward for the Northwest Defenders Association Local 925 Local 925 Chapter.

“Miguel has the skills and breadth of professional experience, including jury trial experience, to thrive as a judicial officer and help the court meet its needs,” Inslee said. . “Those who have worked with him also speak highly of his temperament and friendly disposition.”

Duran received his bachelor’s degree from the University of Texas and his law degree from New York University School of Law.
