Guilford County, NC (July 21, 2021) – Greensboro Police responded to the scene of a fatal crash on Wednesday, July 21. The accident took place on US Highway 29 near North Carolina Highway 150 at around 8:30 a.m.
According to the North Carolina State Highway Patrol, Patrick Small, 45, of Greensboro, was heading north on US 29. At the same time, LaCourtnee James Fitzgerald, 29, of Reidsville, was heading south in an SUV. Small’s car crossed the median and collided head-on with Fitzgerald’s SUV. Fitzgerald died at the scene of the crash while Small was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment of serious injuries. Motorists were told to avoid the area while police investigated the scene.
Following an investigation, Greensboro officers charged Small with driving with revocation of license, driving on the left of the center and the misdemeanor of motor vehicle death. The authorities have so far not disclosed any further details.
