Junior linebacker Nakobe Dean spoke to the media today and spoke about the upcoming season, fall camp, as well as his personal injury status as camp begins on Friday.

Dean said he’s ready to go to this fall camp and he’s attacking the offseason like he’s never picked up reps before.

“I try to attack the camp like I don’t know anything at all. I try to find the new,” Dean said.

He is undoubtedly the leader of this defense for a second consecutive season now. Even with senior security management Richard LeCounte and linebacker Monty Rice a year ago, it was Nakobe Dean who was the caller for this team.

A mechanical engineering graduate, Dean is a varsity athlete who embodies the caliber of character and skills around which head coach Kirby Smart attempts to build his program.

Dean has started every game for Georgia this season as a linebacker and was responsible for making calls for the 17th-ranked defense in 2020 in sophomore. He has managed 71 tackles, 19 more than anyone on the squad, and heading into the 2021 football season, he will be called upon to be the leader of Georgia.
